I'm not really a blogger I guess

Soooo. Am I still allowed here? Since my last post:
All of 2013 happened.
Half of 2014 happened.
Evey & Teagan have a little sister, just 3 weeks old.
School starts in one month - Evey in Grade 1, Teagan in Pre-school. Yikes.
That's all I can muster today.

Edging into Winter

They get along most of the time!
Even though it is the night before Halloween, it feels like winter around here already. Snow on the ground, cloudy skies at night, a chill in the air. BRRR. With only 2 months left in this year, I wonder where the other 10 went.

These past few weeks I've been sewing like mad to prepare for a craft fair in 3 weeks. Tonight I am baking cookies for Evey's preschool Halloween party in the afternoon. Living my comfortably domestic life. The prospect of more billable work is out there. But I am not ready to completely abandon this "stay-at-home" life that I secretly dreamt of for so many years.  I'd like to work just enough to pay off my minivan sooner than later. If we can continue to make it work, I don't want to go back to the full time grind until the kids are in school full time. Simple plans.

The kids are growing like mad. Evey, at age 4, is trying to learn to read and write on her own. She has no patience to wait until kindergarten. She's constantly asking me how to spell words, or piecing together sounds and letters on her own to write stories and letters to friends. Super cute.  Teagan, at 2, now has more stories to tell than his vocabulary allows him. He's trying to get the words, and often Evey jumps in to translate. But as mama, I know what he's trying to say.

I can't wait to see the kids dressed up tomorrow. Hopefully I'm on the ball enough to post pictures!

Meal Plan Monday

I'm in the 2nd week of the Wildrose D-tox, and I had a few stumbling blocks over the weekend (pizza, I'm looking at you!), so I've planned a week of good meals I hope. I've listed what the family will eat. I'll eat a modified wheat, dairy & sugar free version.

Monday: chick pea veggie burgers with greek-ish salad (me, no bun)
Tuesday:mac n' cheese with sauteed sesame broccoli.
(I'll have brown rice & more veggies)
Wednesday:pork schitzel & spaghetti squash
Thursday:kebabs & moroccan couscous
Friday: homemade pizza, with fire-roasted tomatoes, spinach, roasted garlic, mushrooms & mozza
Saturday: bison steaks & zucchini fritters
Sunday: eggs & hashbrowns.

I'll just have to watch the amount of margarine I use when frying.

Best friends?

These kids are growing up way to fast for me. My baby boy is going to be a year old in less than 3 weeks! Evey is most of the way to 3! Whaaaat?

I love to watch Teagan and Evey playing so much. Now that he is walking, he follows her around the house like a little puppy. I'm talking back to her room, out to the dining room, around and around the kitchen loop.  She has recently started to call him into a room to come play with her (with some limits on what toys he is actually able to touch).   It warms my heart.

And it has me thinking every day if we dare disrupt this nice stage with another rugrat.  Things are starting to be calm and reasonably managable (but who likes boring anyways?). We still aren't all sleeping through the night but I have low expectations of ever sleeping again.

I really need to make sure I appreciate these kiddos every day!
